This Black Futures Month, the Pōpolo Project is partnering with Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture, and Design to host artists in residence Ayodele Drum and Dance for series of presentations, public performances and workshops.
Chicago-based Ayodele Drum and Dance fosters community from a feminine perspective through the study and performance of diasporic African drum and dance. Ayodele, a Yoruba word meaning “Joy in the home", is a diverse sister-circle of performing artists committed to studying and performing drum and dance as a healing element.
