Black Futures Month: Shangri La Presents Ayodele Drum and Dance + Seckou Camara and Moussa Bango

  • Kapiolani Community College (Shuttle Pick Up Location) 4303 Diamond Head Road Honolulu, HI, 96816 United States (map)

Artists-in-residence, Ayodele Drum and Dance, will transform the museum with their jubilant performances of music and dance. “Ayodele” is a Yoruba word that means “joy in the home” and this diverse sister-circle collective of performing artists based in Chicago uses African drum and dance to heal, educate and motivate in an unending circle firmly rooted in joy. The troupe will be joined by Honolulu-based musicians, Seckou Camara and Moussa Bangora. Originally from Guinea, this duo grew up in a griot family that has kept the tradition of musical storytelling alive for many generations.

This event is part of The Pōpolo Project’s Black Futures Month.

Light refreshments will be provided.
