Black Futures Month: The Abstract— Black Mental Health & Deconstructing Racism

Join us for a special community discussion and workshop on mental health and resilience in the Black community. Facilitated by mental health practitioner, Daniel Ikejimba, this event will introduce and explore concepts like intergenerational trauma and micro-aggressions and move the group through interactive activities to gain perspective and fortify participants on their healing journeys.

Space is limited, so RSVP is required. Suggested donation of $10 at the door.

About the facilitator

Daniel Chinemerem Ikejimba Jr. is a first generation Nigerian-American born and raised in Chicago, IL. They attended the University of Texas at Austin, earning a BA in psychology, and recently received a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Hawaiʻi Pacific University. Daniel’s research in psychology includes cross-cultural learning and memory development, social psychology, relationships, and the concept of ”hate.” As a clinician, their theoretical approach is a mixture of Choice Theory, Positive Psychology, and CBT, with holistic healing as the overarching focus. Daniel is a co founder of The Abstract, a resource for people to access information and tools for their own mental health journey.
