A high-energy workshop on West African dance with Ayodele Drum and Dance
Don’t miss this chance to dance to live percussion! Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture & Design artists-in-residence, Ayodele Drum and Dance, will hold a high-energy workshop on West African dance. “Ayodele” is a Yoruba word that means “joy in the home” and this diverse sister-circle collective of performing artists based in Chicago uses African drum and dance to heal, educate and motivate in an unending circle firmly rooted in joy. People of all ages and levels of experience are welcome!
Wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in and be prepared to dance barefoot. Bring a water bottle.
This workshop is a partnership between Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture & Design and The Pōpolo Project in support of Black Futures Month. All proceeds will support the Pōpolo Project.
