Our Priorities
Building our Board Leadership
As we have grown, so have our needs for a strong and adaptable board of directors. As a start-up, we rely on our board to provide a strong foundation for our work and to support the organization in pursuit of our mission. We’re in a phase of recruitment for vacant board positions while providing our current board members with professional development to maximize their unique contributions to our mission.
Scaling Beyond our Executive Director
As a young organization, we have relied primarily on our founder and executive director whose important contributions to the impact we’ve made in the last two years have been as an unpaid volunteer. To sustain this work, new opportunities are emerging to support the executive director role with a full-time salary so that we can do more with more support. With suitable resources we are confident our impact will be ever more profound.
Investing in learning experiences
In our first two years it’s been clear that our talent is for creating and facilitating unique cultural learning spaces in many venues and media. As we go forward we’ll be investing in making knowledge accessible to our community, producing relevant media that reflects our community’s stories and experiences on their own terms, continuing to curate quality public events, and furthering Local and international conversations on Blackness and belonging.
